Day by Day Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Later in the evening, we will have a pre-departure meeting regarding the details of your trip.

In the morning, we will pick you from the hotel and drive northward of Kathmandu valley passing through different picturesque village and river before arriving to Syabrubesi, village inhabited by Sherpas and Tamangs. Along the drive you will be welcomed by an amazing view of Manaslu (8156m), Annapurna (8091m), and Ganesh Himal (7422m).

Our first day of walking to Gatlang from Syabrubesi begins with a few steep ascents, leading us to Rongga Bhanjyang. As we ascend, we are treated to panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, offering glimpses of the natural beauty that awaits us on this journey. We then descend to Golijung village, where we will have our lunch and immerse ourselves in the charm of this traditional settlement. Continuing our trek, we make a gradual ascent to reach Gatlang village. Gatlang is a picturesque village inhabited by the Tamang people, known for their rich cultural heritage with traditional Tamang houses which have carved wooden shutters. In the evening, we have the opportunity to visit Parvati Kund, a sacred site revered by the locals, and an ancient old monastery that holds deep spiritual significance.

After breakfast, we continue our trek to Tatopani with a gentle descent through dense forest to Thangbuchet, which is located on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. On the way, you can see Chortens, prayer flags, and Mani walls (stone carved and decorated with mantras). We then cross the Chilime River on a suspension bridge and gradually ascend to Gonggang village and eventually Tatopani. Tatopani means “hot water” in Nepali. You can soak in a natural hot spring, and the locals believe the waters have a healing quality that will undoubtedly relieve your fatigue.

Today’s hiking will be the longest so far. Leaving Tatopani behind, we ascend through dense alpine forest to reach Nagthali View Point (3165m). This is the highest point we have been so far. Great vistas of Langtang Lirung (7225m), Shishapangma (8013m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), Tibetan Himal, and other Himalayan peaks await you. After taking in the scenery, we make our descend through forest to Thuman where will stay for the night.

Today we pass through rhododendron forest and meadows to reach another Tibetan influenced Tamang village Briddim. Here we can visit Dukchu Monastery. Continuing further, we meets with the main Langtang trail, where we may meet fellow trekkers going towards same destination. We arrive to Sherpa Gaun after passing through Chortens, Mani walls, prayer flags, rhododendron and bamboo forests. Some of the indigenous fauna, such as monkeys, meerkats, Danfe, and possibly red pandas may be seen if we are lucky.

After Sherpa Gaun, the trail follows Langtang Khola through a lovely forest of oak and rhododendron, with Langtang Lirung as a backdrop. Furthermore, the trail passes through a number of charming teahouse communities such as Tiwari Gaon, Bamboo, and Rimche, each with its own distinct beauty and respite for trekkers. After Rimche, the trail becomes relatively steep and difficult until you reach Lama Hotel. Afterward, we trek through bustling villages, pass different Buddhist Mani walls covered with sacred inscriptions and prayer flags and Chortens, classic Buddhist stupas. Then the trail takes us through a lush forest of rhododendrons and pine trees, which adds to the enchantment and beauty of the surroundings. The trail expands as we approach Ghoda Tabela, also known as Horse Stable, giving us more room to take in the breathtaking vistas of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. To the north, the towering Langtang Lirung looms up, greeting us with its overwhelming presence. We continue our hike towards Langtang village, passing past a few more traditional villages along the way. An ancient monastery graces our path, offering a serene ambiance for spiritual reflection.

The devastating earthquake of 2015 had a tremendous impact on Langtang village. A huge landslide sadly buried the entire village. Despite the difficulties, the inhabitants’ fortitude prevailed, and new teahouses and lodges were built slightly further away from the original settlement, giving shelter and comfort for trekkers.

Today is a short day of walking to Kyanjin Gompa, one of the oldest monastery in this region. As we continue our trek, we pass through rock fields of Lantang, chortens, water mills, prayer flags, mani walls and alpine yak pasture. We will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic mountains such as Mt. Langtang Ri, Mt. Dorje Lakpa and Mt. Langtang Lirung upon reaching Kyanjin Gompa.

Hiking up Tsergo Ri is an exciting and exhilarating day on the Kyanjin Gompa Trek, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. As we ascend to an impressive altitude of 5,000 meters (16,404 feet), the air becomes thinner, and the trail becomes steeper and more demanding. However, the efforts put into this challenging climb are handsomely rewarded. From the summit of Tsergo Ri, we are treated to a jaw-dropping panoramic view that spans over 20 peaks in the region such as Langtang Lirung (7234m), Tserko Peak (5749m), Yala Peak (5500m), and so on; entire Langtang Valley and frozen lakes. As we descend back to Kyanjin Gompa, we carry the memories of the stunning vistas and the sense of achievement, knowing that we’ve witnessed nature’s grandeur from one of its most incredible vantage points.

We waved farewell to the people and nature after a rewarding time at Kyanjin Gompa and hiked back to Lama Hotel, crossing streams and traversing through forests.

Today is the last day of our walk, and we will return to our starting place at Syabrubesi. We pass through bamboo and birch forest and cross the Langtang and Bhote Koshi rivers before arriving Syabrubesi.

It is our final day of the trek. After having breakfast at the hotel, we will take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will drop you at your hotel.
