The Kathmandu Tour offers a captivating journey through religious, cultural, and historical sites, immersing visitors in astonishing art, architecture, history, civilization, culture, and religion. For avid explorers, the Kathmandu Valley resembles a living museum, offering insights into ancient cultures and civilizations. Notable sites include Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Changunarayan, all of which are of religious significance, while Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square are historically important. The tour culminates with a stay in Nagarkot, where you can witness heavenly sunrise and sunset views, accompanied by breathtaking vistas of the snow-covered Himalayan peaks.

Additionally, the itinerary includes a visit to the remarkable Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO-listed natural world heritage site located in Nepal’s southern Terai Region. Day by Day Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After check in formalities and some refreshment, we will have a pre-departure meeting regarding the details of your trip.

In the evening, we will take a 15 to 20-minute stroll from your hotel to reach Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage site. Located in the heart of old Kathmandu at Basantapur, this historic square never fails to captivate newcomers with its collection of palaces, open spaces, and temples constructed during the Malla era. Notable features of the Durbar Square include the Hanuman Dhoka Royal Palace, an important historical seat of royalty; the impressive Taleju Temple standing over 40 meters tall; Kumari Ghar, the home of the Living Goddess, Kumari; Ashok Vinayak, also known as Kathmandu Ganesh, a temple with a unique design; and Kal Bhairav, the deity representing Wrath. The city gets its name from the grand Kasthamandap pagoda, believed to have been crafted from a single tree. Throughout the rule of the Malla kings, the Durbar Square has remained the central hub for social, religious, and political activities.

Afterwards, we will make our way back to the hotel through Asan, which has been the city’s primary marketplace for centuries. Asan boasts an incredible array of goods for sale, spanning from edibles, spices, and fabrics to electronics and precious metals. Notably, Asan is also a well-liked attraction for tourists due to its architectural wonders and delightful atmosphere.

Our day begins with a 45-minute drive to Bhaktapur, a historic city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, remarkable temples, and exceptional craftsmanship in wood, metal, and stone. In Bhaktapur, our exploration takes us through four primary squares – Durbar, Taumadhi, Dattatreya, and Pottery. Within these squares, we’ll discover iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 Windows, the Lion’s Gate, the magnificent Nyatpola Temple (the tallest of its kind in Nepal), the Bhairab Temple, and the Dattatreya Temple.

Following our visit to Bhaktapur, we continue our journey towards Changunarayan, passing through lush forests, local farmlands, and picturesque Nepalese villages. This drive offers an authentic and immersive glimpse into rural life in Nepal. The pagoda-style Hindu temple at Changunarayan, with origins dating back to the Lichhavi Dynasty, pays homage to Vishnu in his Narayan incarnation and stands as one of Nepal’s most ancient temples.

Afterward, we proceed towards a serene mountain environment by heading to Nagarkot, which stands as the highest point of our journey at an elevation of 2,100 meters. Nagarkot is a well-known tourist destination that attracts visitors from both Nepal and abroad. It is renowned for its breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset over the Himalayan mountain range, offering a tranquil escape amidst the mountains.

This morning starts early with a visit to the Nagarkot viewing tower to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Langtang mountain range, weather permitting, we may be fortunate enough to see majestic Mount Everest.

Our first destination on the itinerary is the revered Pashupatinath Temple, gracefully nestled along the banks of a river. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is famously known as ‘The Temple of Living Beings.’ It holds the distinction of being Nepal’s most sacred Hindu temple and is considered one of the holiest shrines of Lord Shiva worldwide. Its history dates back to 400 AD, and its magnificent architecture, designed in the traditional Nepalese pagoda style, showcases intricate carvings, splendid gilded roofs, and gates adorned with silver, and it enshrines the revered linga of Lord Shiva.

Our journey then takes us to the Bouddhanath Stupa, a site brimming with profound spiritual energy. Located 7 kilometers east of the city, Bouddhanath Stupa, also known as Khasti Chitya, stands as the largest stupa in Nepal. This stupa holds historical significance due to its position along the ancient trade route connecting Tibet and Kathmandu. Over the centuries, Tibetan merchants have sought solace here and offered their prayers. Today, it stands as the primary Tibetan temple outside of Tibet itself. Every day, worshippers, including Tibetan and Sherpa pilgrims, engage in a kora, a ritual circumambulation, around the stupa. The stupa itself has graced this site since the 5th century, earning its rightful place as a World Heritage Site in 1979. Its design mirrors the mandala concept, symbolizing the entirety of the Buddhist cosmos.

We will pick you from your hotel and then proceed with a drive to Chitwan National Park, a designated World Heritage Site located in the Inner Terai region of southern central Nepal. Your stay in Chitwan promises a diverse range of engaging activities, including guided jungle walks, exploration of local villages, visits to an elephant breeding center, leisurely canoe rides, thrilling elephant back safaris, the opportunity to partake in elephant bathing, immersive bird watching experiences, and the chance to enjoy an evening of cultural dance performances. You have the flexibility to choose from these activities based on your personal preferences. In the evenings, you’ll have ample time to relax by the riverside and witness the captivating sunset on the horizon.

In the morning, you have the option to partake in one final jungle or village activity before we arrange your transfer to Bharatpur Airport for a short 20-minute flight back to Kathmandu.

Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will drop you to your hotel. You’ll then have the freedom to continue exploring the city, including its lively shops and markets. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can opt for relaxation and leisure time at your own pace.

In the morning, our itinerary includes a visit to Swayambhunath, affectionately referred to as the Monkey Temple because of the vigilant monkey community that inhabits the area. This site is instantly recognizable for the all-seeing eyes of Buddha that gaze over the entire valley. Situated atop a hill approximately 3 kilometers west of Kathmandu, Swayambhunath holds a sacred status as one of Nepal’s most revered Buddhist Chaityas. According to legend, it emerged spontaneously when the Kathmandu valley took shape from an ancient lake over 2,000 years ago. Being the oldest stupa of its kind in Nepal, the premises of Swayambhunath are adorned with an array of shrines and monasteries, creating an environment steeped in tranquility and spiritual significance.

Following your visit to Swayambhunath, we will provide transportation to the airport in accordance with your scheduled flight time for your departure.
